Lake Nakuru N. Park

The park lies in Central Kenya, 140km north-west of Nairobi, in Nakuru district of the Rift Valley Province. The ecosystem comprises of the lake, surrounded by mainly wooded and bushy grasslands. The park supports a wide ecological diversity with Flamingos (Greater and Lesser) and other water birds being the major attractions of the area. The ecosystem provides for about 56 different species of mammals including the white rhino and buffaloes and a variety of terrestrial birds numbering nearly 450 species.

The park is 188 square kilometers.

Typical African savanna, dry and warm. Rainfall peaks around April, August and November delivering an annual average of 1000mm.
Lake Nakuru National Park offers sanctuary to huge numbers of native African animals including; waterbucks, warthogs, impalas, buffalo, Rothschild’s giraffes, elands, endangered Black and white rhinos and occasionally leopards.
Lake Nakuru National Park also has unique vegetation with about 550 different plant species including the exceptional and biggest Euphorbia forest in Africa, picterreque landscape and yellow acacia woodlands. The park too has breathtaking view points at lion hill baboon cliff and out of African and the makalia falls.
